Iain Kerr

I started my adult career in 1978 in a Rattigan double bill of The Browning Version and Harlequinade, though I had been on stage at age 8-ish  -  as a dancing pirate in green-dyed pyjamas.   I have been lucky enough to have been in some dozens of productions over the years.  A few of the parts that hold special memories were in Plaza Suite, Five Finger
Exercise, Hay Fever, Barefoot in the Park, A Delicate Balance, Pygmalion, Blue Remembered Hills and Cloud Nine.

I have mainly acted with the Edinburgh Civil Service Dramatic Society, the oldest club in Edinburgh till it died  -  and the ‘Grads’.   And I had a powerful experience being directed by Josephine Peter in an RSAMD Fringe production.

I have directed quite a number of productions (sometimes winning awards!), but here are a few I’d like to mention  -  The Collection (Pinter), Pack of Lies, On Golden Pond, Flare Path, Deathtrap, Sexual Perversity in Chicago, The Frog Prince, Rope  -  and Tons of Money.   I specially love Terence Rattigan, David Mamet and Harold Pinter as writers for their beautifully crafted scripts.
